aiyana just HAD TO HAVE this playmat. it's all she's talked about since her playdate with her friend, Hayden, last week.

aiyana studied the red ruffle on her shirt for quite a long time. maybe because this wasn't a onesie and she could pull it up to get a closer look...but as soon as the shirt was on, she was mesmerized by the pretty ruffle.

"a robust girl"

aiyana's growth report: 15-13.8lbs, 26 1/4 inches (measured her twice just to be sure!)

Doctor says, "she's a robust girl". She's growing perfectly along her curve even with a height greater than the 97%tile. Just means we'll be using a lot of onesie extenders!

soothing yourself to sleep can be very tiring work. and she's very smart about it, too. sometimes she'll use one hand to jam the other as far back in her throat as possible. and then she gags. and then she starts all over.

it's all a very sweet process.

weeeee!!

another gorgeous 70 degree winter day. daddy took us to the park. we braved the swings for the first time. aiyana wasn't too sure what to think at first. as the swing swung, she began to shake a little bit, so we stopped. actually, on the video, it sounds something like, "stop! stop! she doesn't like it!" baby steps i guess. but she did enjoy sitting with the sun and breeze on her face.

just one bite?

this may be the beginning of "begging" for table food. i don't like that "the books" call it "begging" (she's not a puppy)....but she's definitely paying attention. she knows something good is going on and she wants to be a part of it!

naps look like this (sometimes)

we may have discovered aiyana's perfect swaddle. since she enjoys snacking on her hands, and tends to find them when she's getting sleepy, i now swaddle her so she can reach the fingers of her left hand for a middle of the nap (or night) snack. it's really an exact science -- too much freedom and she smacks herself awake.

15 weeks later

here's a little peek back -- how teeny our baby was at 3 weeks when she had her first tub bath!

and now today... there's hardly room left for the water!

sitting pretty

look closely...no hands! baby girl is sitting up all by herself...though she's quite wobbly, the cloth diaper does give her a good base to balance on.

ballet slipper pink

mommy loves this dress! not only is it cozy, beautiful (and the most perfect shade of pink)... but it also has magical sleep-inducing powers. aiyana (who has been on a nap-strike this week), decided that today was the day to catch up on her zzz's. i do miss her while she's snoozing the day away, but she's so much happier when she's rested!

look what i can do!

standing is aiyana's recent activity of choice. she grips my fingers, pulls herself up, and wiggles until she's ready to plop back down. she's extremely proud of herself. usually, she doesn't want to sit back down and getting her off her feet takes a little convincing.

she's also modeling her cloth diapers. we've been on that adventure for a week now and there's no turning back. she has a happy heiny.
